The Best Deep Conditioners

With the weather getting colder by the day, I notice that my hair is starting to take a real beating from the elements (especially from this bi-polar weather here in Toronto!) But before I explain the rest of this post, here is a brief background on my hair.

I have natural, 4a/b textured hair (for more information on hair texture click HERE) that is mid back length (when stretched!) and is eternally dry. And since my hair is always dry, I have to make sure that my moisture intake is on point. That's where these awesome deep conditioning treatments come in.

1. Garnier Fructis Damage Eraser Reconstructing Butter

This extremely thick and moisturizing formula contains a Phyto-Keratin complex chock full of plant based proteins, fruit concentrate, and cupuaƧu butter. This product makes my hair feel moisturized but strong at the same time. It's super thick (passes the "hold and turn upside down" test) and a little goes a looooong way. It also has an amazing scent, although I can't put my finger on exactly what it is (tropical floral?). Another good thing about this is the price! I can get this for about $5 at my local Walmart.

2. Ouidad Deep Treatment Curl Restoration Therapy

This product is very similar to the previous 12 Minute Deep Treatment she once sold on her website
Slathering this deep treatment on my hair made my hair very soft and manageable. And there is so much "slip" with this product, it's perfect for detangling and getting rid of the knots and tangles instantly. As with all my deep treatments, adding in some additional heat make this product work amazing. The only thing I don't like about this deep treatment is the price. On the official Ouidad website, this product costs a whopping $52 for 8.5 fl oz. ! And considering I have thick hair and alot of it, I rotate this with the other deep treatments on this list to stretch out the usage. It's also a pain to find in stores here in Toronto.

3. DevaCurl Heaven In Hair

Moisture, moisture, moisture! If your hair is feeling parched and dry, a 30 minute (or longer!) deep conditioning session with this Heaven In Hair will fix that. I was lucky to get this product on sale for around $15 (regular price $24) and I was excited to try it after reading all the good reviews....and they were right! First off, the texture of this conditioner was nothing like I tried before. It's creamy with a hint of slime (but not like a sticky, snot consistency) and the "slip" was out of this world. Seriously, it cut down my usual 1+ hour long detangling sessions down to 30 minutes and under, which is amazing. After deep conditioning with HIH for about 30 minutes, I was left with soft, shiny and moisturized hair that was easy to comb and style.
